In her case, it\u2019s because \u201cmany of my clients have already been laid off. That\u2019s affected me a little, but up until now, God hasn\u2019t abandoned me.&nbsp; But if they close the zone down completely, I don\u2019t know. I\u2019m afraid my blood pressure would go way up.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maria del Socorro Chavarria sells bread and butter at the entrance to one of the companies in the zone, a business that doesn\u2019t generate a huge income. She notes that a quarantine order \u201cwould affect us economically, because we couldn\u2019t keep our business going, and we\u2019d have to use the small reserves we have for our food.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Judith Castro is taking all the preventive measures that they taught her in the company, and is also applying them at home, to safeguard her children\u2019s health. In addition to seeing them healthy, she also wants them to be well fed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That\u2019s the reason the idea that they could order the workers to stay at home to slow the rate of contagion disturbs her. \u201cIn that case \u2013 What are we going to do? If we don\u2019t work, we don\u2019t get paid. There\u2019s no food.&nbsp; And that\u2019s the main thing \u2013 food. I don\u2019t think we could stand it for much time,\u201d she admits.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wiston Cortes drives a motorcycle taxi in which he transports passengers from the north highway into the neighborhood. He also takes workers from the factory to the bus stops and vice versa. He explains that he\u2019s had to prioritize his business over his health. \u201cI\u2019ve thought about wearing a mask as a form of prevention, but then the passengers will think that I\u2019m sick, and they won\u2019t want to ride with me,\u201d he says.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He\u2019s also concerned about the possibility of an order to close the factories, because \u201cwe transport people from the bus stops to the free trade zone, and if they close down, we lose our income.
